East Mountain Country Club's
Noontime Mountaineers
The Point System
As with everything we do in The Mountaineer's league, we try to keep things simple. Keeping score and deciding daily winning teams is achieved through a pre-approved point system. Each player is assigned a certain quota of points that they attempt to make toward their team's final score.

The points are assigned according to the individual players official USGA handicap. If the player doesn't have an official USGA handicap, and several of our players don't, he will be assigned a temporary allotment of points to make determined from what he considers his most recent scoring averages have been.

Points are awarded as follows: 1 point for bogey - 2 points for par - 3 points for birdies - 4 points for eagles. There are no points for double-bogeys and we encourage all players to pick up their ball and wait for their team mates to finish the hole when they find themselves in that situation. This keeps play moving along and the folks behind your foursome will greatly appreciate this gesture.

Again, everything is based on your handicap or the handicap assigned you by the club pro or other members. Just below you will see a brief example of how we determine the amount of points each player is allotted.

Shooting Par for 18 holes would result in 36 points, so...
A 10 handicapper must make 26 points

A 15 handicapper must make 21 points

A 20 handicapper must make 16 points

This is to only serve as an example. The best thing you can do is come out, tee it up,
hit 'em as well as you can and let some of the more experienced members help you
understand the scoring.  But most importantly - ENJOY yourself and have some FUN.
